The General Hypnotherapy Register
The largest Professional Register of Hypnotherapists in the UK, we are The Administrating Agency for both The General Hypnotherapy Standards Council (currently representing 150+ separate Professional Bodies & Training Schools) and The Central Register of Smoking Cessation Therapists (For the ethical promotion of non-pharmaceutical Stop Smoking methods)
Originally established following Department of Health guidelines that each separate Complementary & Alternative medical profession should have a single, central Register of Practitioners, we are now actively participating within the Working Group for Hypnotherapy Regulation whose constituent members represent some 80% of the profession. The Group's primary purpose is to facilitate agreed standards within the profession and subsequently bring about voluntary self-regulation (VSR) - an officially recognised status - for the entire industry.
The GHR itself is a commercial sector executive agency, resourced by specialist CAM Administrators. It is comprised of individual practitioners and open to any Hypnotherapist who is able to satisfy the criteria with regard to both training and ongoing requirements as determined from time to time by the GHSC.
All GHR Registered Practitioners are required to accept our published Code of Ethics and Complaints & Disciplinary Procedure.
Registering with the GHR
If you are either a Hypnotherapist, NLP Practitioner, utilise hypnotherapeutic techniques within your methodology or are currently engaged within other aspects of the field (e.g. teaching, administration, supervision, research etc) and would like to apply for registration with the GHR, you may download Application material here (N.B.You will require Adobe Acrobat to view the above Application material.
