Where can I find additional research on Psychotherapy?

Here is a response from our Research Lead Mike Shallcross:

This is an important and frequently-asked question, by students who are wondering how to get access to academic articles without an institutional login. The field of psychotherapy is too big for any single collection of web links or similar, but there are some useful general approaches to finding academic resources:
(1) Google Scholar (https://scholar.google.co.uk/) is always a good starting point, and it helpfully indicates (on the right of the page) where there’s a freely-downloadable PDF document. These PDFs aren’t just of standard articles; often the author of a book chapter will save a PDF of their chapter somewhere, and Google Scholar will find it for you!
(2) The BASE search engine (https://www.base-search.net/) automatically prioritises open-access books and articles, so again it’s a very useful resource.
(3) Even for articles which are not open-access, you can nearly always get free access to the abstract (using any of the main search engines, e.g. PubMed, https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/), and if you just want to refer to the main conclusions of the article, often this is enough.
Obviously if you’re doing a PhD project then you need full academic access, but we’ve found that for Masters-level work there’s always more than enough academic material that can be accessed using the approaches I’ve outlined.
